For the ¨We Have Got Style project we were given the choice to write in three different styles. These styles were Creative writing, personal essay, and 9 poems. I decided to chose the creative writing, and I wrote a story about a depressed housewife that falls in love with a party animal named Gus.
This project we worked individually. That is rare for HTHNC projects, so it was really awesome to build up a different skill set. I worked really well, and I didn't procrastinate on this project like I usually do. Even though we didn't work in groups for this project, I relied a lot on the critique and my peers helped me add humor to my story. The only area I think I could've done better is taking the challenge option. I think If I would have pushed myself I would've grown a lot.
This project I grew so much about the learning outcomes. I succeeded in terms of grit and content In this project. For grit, I worked so hard and got through hard deadlines. In content, I improved as a writer so much, my style and humor were really able to show in my writing.
I was able to demonstrate a lot of different traits in this project. The trait I was able to demonstrate the most had to be responsible. I was able to manage my work, materials, and time very well in this project. I think I struggled a bit in respect to this project. This is because when I was given feedback about my style of writing from Ms. Carol, I didn't immediately take her advice.
I was so proud of our exhibition, I did a great job sharing my work with community members and I really impacted a lot of people. At the exhibition, I collaborated super well with Daniel Tamayo and we even explained our work in Spanish together. I think I succeeded super well in communication and was able to really explain the stories. I was able to make so many people laugh with my story. Overall, this project allowed me to grow in writing and in Grit.
