DreamLight
For the Dreamlight project, we worked in groups of 2 or 3, and my partner was Isaac. I was super happy to get Isaac because we are good friends, and we worked really well together. We communicated very well, created cool ideas, and saudered very well together as a team. I think the only area I struggled in as a group member was taking to much control and doing to much of the group's work. Next time I will try to not do all of the work and think about my partner's learning as well. In the end, We conducted 3 great interviews, made 3 great lanterns, and we had a ton of fun working together, and that is the definition of a good team.
I really enjoyed the humanities portion of this project. At first, I didn't think I was learning that much, but then I realized I was learning so much value skills in communication and just world knowledge in general. I learned how to conduct a swift interview and ask open ended questions to get the best responses from people. Also, I learned about consumerism and how value human character is in our world from Fahrenheit 451. I realized about halfway through this project that I am a more analytical thinker and I try to find my own opinions instead of just following other's perspectives.
I am usually not the best at physics, so by the end of this project when I learned the difference between a series circuit and parallel circuit I was really proud of myself. I now know that in a parallel circuit the total current is the sum of the currents through each component, and in a series circuit the voltage across the circuit is the sum of the voltages across each component. Also, I realized that I was getting the best hand on experience possible while saudering to learn about circuitry, and that taught me a lot. I used math to design dimensions for by lantern and to calculate voltage/resistors in this project.
For spanish, I learned a lot of conjugation and a ton of new words. I learned about the difference between past and present tense, how to use the filler words, and the difference between IR, ER, and AR verb. My grades in this class were nearly perfect, and I was really proud of the artist statements my partner and I made.
All of my final products for this project were high quality/professional and they taught me a lot, which made me really proud. Our exhibition was beautiful and well put together and I am super proud of my communication with viewers/parents on exhibition night. I feel like I had a lot to offer to my groups, and after I finished my work I would help others. I would grade myself a 100% for this project in terms of learning outcomes, I feel like I set an example of great learning outcomes to my peers. I would say I was really successful with work ethic specifically in this project, I stayed up late working on this project a few times, and I did a lot of my groups work. Honestly in this project I don't think there was 1 learning outcome I didn't really do great in because I was always focused and driven. During this project I felt connected a lot to our class values, specifically empathy. During our senior citizen interview William talked about it how it is one of his favorite human traits, and I feel like I am becoming a more empathetic person. Overall, I am super proud of the personal growth and the quality of work I produced in this project. I think this is one of the best exhibitions I've been a part of at HTH.
