Muralismo
I would like to say that the Muralismo y la Voz Política Proyecto was great for me in many ways. Not only did I improve with my pace, vocabulary, reading, and with my Spanish in general, I felt that I grew as a person. Skills such as public speaking, critique giving and receiving, grit/work ethic, ambition, and dedication to the work. Working on an important issue like ocean acidification, and hearing about other incredibly important issues added more depth to a project and made learning Spanish meaningful, and for that, I would like to say I really enjoyed the project.
I thought that the quality of work I produced in this project was very very high. I created 4 of these high-level pieces, a 3D ocean acidification art piece, an ocean acidification science experiment with calculated results, a surf outfit with an ocean acidification t-shirt and an informative video about ocean acidification as a challenge option. The purpose of my pieces was to be creative informative, and eye-opening. Also, I wanted to affect my audience and make them realize that ocean acidification is a serious issue, and I think I did a pretty good job of that. During work time in this project, I was on task and worked hard and it shows in the products.
As far as what I could’ve done better/differently, I think it would have been nice to have an artist statement for my science experiment, but that is all I can think of. I am incredibly proud of what I did in this project, and there wasn’t much I could’ve done better.
For me, the most significant part of this project was in the research about ocean acidification. I was really impacted by hearing about the state of our environment and how much damage we have done to our planet. It hurts me to see so many people valuing money over the future generations. People are so greedy/selfish it is sad to see. Also, when looking at other student’s work/issues I realized that there are common themes in all of the world issues. These are greed, selfishness, and privilege.
As I mentioned earlier, my growth in Spanish was great this semester. I improved all around the board, and it shows in my test scores and quality of work. Translating and presenting the spoken Spanish piece really helped me start to form sentences and improve with the future tense. Overall, I feel well prepared for the final and I think that I may even be ready for the AP Spanish test you mentioned at the beginning of the year.
As far as feedback for the project It is positive. I really enjoyed learning Spanish through such meaningful topics, and I think when you included such meaningful topics it really helped to engage the students because they cared a lot. Also, It made the audience really engaged in the exhibition.
