Look at Me Now
The Look At Me Now project was a super great project. The purpose of the project was to form and strong class connection and review the literary devices. Students were asked to describe their lives using literary devices and connect them to an art piece. My art piece was a poster. I decided to chose to create a poster because I thought It would be a very simple way to highlight the literary devices connection part of this project.
This project was pretty challenging for me. First of all, I often struggle with my fine motor skills, so making a poster was challenging for me. Second, to create meaningful writing/connections it requires a high maturity level and an open mind. These are two things that I also struggle with. However, I was able to overcome these obstacles by showing a lot of grit and allowing my peers to critique my work.
The easiest part of the project was choosing the photos to put on my final product. I was super passionate about my poster and I really liked what it represented. While I was working on the poster I had clear ideas for images that went along well with my paragraphs. I chose pictures of my parents, my friends, soccer, and other things that I am passionate about. This allowed my product to deliver a wonderful message about me to share with my class.
I sometimes struggle to take critique sessions seriously, but once I saw all the cool products created, I was able to provide Kind, Specific, and Helpful feedback for the peer review session. I critiqued Liam, Mafer, and Isaac's pieces. Liam's piece had his paragraphs on his mountain bike helmet. I said that I thought it was a great idea to incorporate one of his passions, but I said he could've read his paragraphs beforehand because there were some grammar/spelling issues. For Mafer's piece, I thought her idea of putting her paragraphs on a tennis racket was awesome, but she also could've proofread her paragraphs. I was very proud of the feedback I gave for this project.
If you know me well, you probably know that I goof around a lot in class. For the past years of school, I have often messed around in class but worked very hard at home. This isn't something I am proud of, but I think I have made some really great work. I didn't only mess around though, I was able to complete and proofread all my paragraphs in class.
All of my paragraphs have been proofread and critiqued multiple times by teachers and peers. I think that is little to no grammar errors and the message they all deliver is great. I took inspiration from Robson's Look at Me Now poster, and the goal for my poster was to keep it simple to highlight my great paragraphs, and I think it did just that. If I had to grade myself for this project I would give myself an A+. Not only did I create a high-quality product that I am very proud of, but I showed a lot of personal growth and takeaways. I think that is almost the definition of an ideal takeaway from the project and that is how I justify my grade.
I really enjoyed this project, but If I had to change one thing it would be the timeframe. The deadlines came very fast in this project, and I felt like It cut down my creativity. However, I learned so much from this project. For example, I learned a ton about my classmates, literary devices, and how to show vulnerability. Overall, I am very satisfied with this project, and the work I created.
